If patrolling on the beach isn’t your thing, it still pays to make sure you have
some lifesaving skills. A basic first aid qualification will prepare you to deal
with first aid emergencies wherever they occur.
Lifesaving First Aid, Surf Lifesaving New Zealand’s first aid training arm offers first aid courses for workplaces, clubs or groups which can be tailored to their needs.
A basic workplace first aid course covers scene assessment, identification of hazards, medical conditions and how to administer first aid in a range of possible emergencies such as:
- Resuscitation (including CPR)
- Shock and bleeding
- Burns
- Fractures and soft tissue injuries
- Poisoning
- Chest pains e.g. heart attack
- Seizures
- Asthma
- Strokes
- Major incidents
